Which software for
pastry chefs in 2026?

Six tools from the French market put to the test: those that sell, those that produce, and what each really costs.

This comparison is maintained by the Patissio team — we do not hide it, and Patissio is rated on the same criteria as the others. Information comes from official websites, pricing pages and public flows of each tool, checked on 6 September 2026. If something has changed since, write to us and we will correct it.

“Pastry software” covers two families. Kitchen software (ChefsTouch, Otami, Ratatool, ProCake) starts from recipes and purchasing: recipe sheets, costing, stock, labelling. Sales software (Patissio, Pattyly) starts from the customer: website, orders, quotes, deposit, planning. The best one depends on where you lose time or money.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best software for pastry chefs in 2026?

To sell to order (website, shop, quotes with deposit, planning) and know your profitability, Patissio is the most complete tool in this comparison, with a free plan. For a lab whose priority is recipe sheets and labelling, ChefsTouch is unbeatable on price; for purchasing and margins across several shops, Otami. The “best” depends on where you lose money: in sales or in purchasing.

Is there free pastry software?

Yes, two: Patissio’s Starter plan (website, shop, orders, directory, no time limit) and ChefsTouch’s Starter plan (100 recipe sheets, no costing). Ratatool offers a trial limited to 4 recipes, ProCake a 7-day trial. Patissio also provides free costing and cake-pricing calculators, without sign-up.

Kitchen software or sales software: which first?

If your orders arrive by DM and phone, without deposit or planning, start with sales software: that is where hours and orders get lost. If you already sell well but do not know your margin, start with costing. Patissio covers both from the Pro plan; kitchen software can be combined with it.

Which software to compute the cost price of a pastry?

Every tool in this comparison except Pattyly does it. ChefsTouch and Ratatool build it into very complete recipe sheets, Otami recalculates it on every supplier invoice, Patissio matches it against the price of each order to show its margin. For a first estimate, Patissio’s free calculator is enough.

Which software for a cake designer or a caterer?

Cake designers and caterers sell custom work: they need a quote form, a deposit and a planning, which only Patissio and Pattyly offer. Patissio adds savoury, buffets, workshops and costing. A dedicated comparison for cake designers is available on the “best cake designer software” page.
